– Through this partnership, Hub One intends to beat the drum for women in the IT sector, where they are still under-represented –
Hub One, the digital technologies operator for businesses, has joined forces with Elles bougent, an association created in 2005 with the objective of getting young women interested in professions as engineers and technicians. This initiative ties in with Hub One’s commitments to encourage diversity in the workplace and the promotion of the IT sector, along with the Group’s desire to get more women on its staff.
In the IT and digital sector, parity today represents a genuine challenge. Women tend to be under-represented, or else they generally occupy cross-functional positions (communication and marketing, legal, accounts, etc.). The posts of engineers and technicians are predominantly occupied by men. This trend derives notably from the fact that, despite parity existing among high-school students taking a scientific baccalaureate, this falls away in scientific and technical higher education studies. A study by the CDEFI[1] (Conférence des Directeurs des Ecoles Françaises d’Ingénieurs – Conference of French Engineering Schools Directors) found that in school year 2016-2017 only 28% of the total headcount of engineering students were women.
With 25.6%[2] female employees, Hub One is committed to encouraging parity and wishes to diversify its staff by attracting women to the posts of engineers and technicians within the Group.
Hub One has therefore chosen to join the Elles bougent association, whose main ambition is to reinforce gender diversity in companies in the industrial and technological sectors. As part of this partnership, Hub One is asking its female workers to become « Elles bougent sponsors », on a voluntary basis. Their role consists in encouraging young female students and pupils to follow scientific and technical curricula, by presenting to them their own professions and career paths. Prospective students and sponsors can chat at events organised by Elles bougent (roundtables, forums, talks in schools, etc.), on the social networks, or on the association’s website.
Corporate Social Responsibility and community commitment are part of Hub One’s make-up. Since 2012, the Group has strongly encouraged the involvement of its employees in social and humanitarian initiatives, while showing solidarity with associations that address societal issues.

Hiring women to fill technical posts is today very difficult because there are so few qualified applicants. Thanks to the Elles bougent association, we can raise awareness among schoolgirls considering their career choices, and in this way strive to reverse the trend, » declares Patricia Lorreyte, HR and CSR Director at Hub One.
In the framework of its membership of this association, Hub One will take part in the upcoming Networks & Careers Forum of Elles bougent, on 14 February 2019 in the Espace Charenton (327, rue de Charenton – Paris 75012).
