Hub One unveils a "BTS Hotel" at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport

<![CDATA[Hub One, provider of information and communication technology services in professional environments, has launched the first BTS Hotel* at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport. This mechanism aims at offering companies in the zone better coverage for the mobile networks inside buildings by enabling the different telecoms operators to connect to a pooled hosting space, managed and supervised by Hub One.
*BTS Hotel: the solution for enhanced connectivity
With its vast expertise in radio and telecommunications at the Paris airports behind it, Hub One offers the telecoms operators in the zone the possibility to connect to a pooled hosting solution: BTS Hotel. This will enable them to extend their mobile network coverage to the buildings situated within this geographical area, with no extra investment, while benefiting from supervision by the Hub One teams.
With this solution, companies benefit from optimised 2G, 3G and 4G coverage inside their buildings, regardless of who their operator is, both for their employees and their visitors, but also for travellers. All are able to profit in this way from the service, thanks to multi-operator connectivity.
Working in tandem with the distributed antenna system (DAS2) deployed by Hub One, the BTS Hotel provides a high-performance global service guaranteeing high bandwidth and homogeneous signal coverage inside buildings. What is more, the DAS engineering is systematically validated upstream by the operators before being deployed by Hub One. The technology used at Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle is capable of transporting operator signals up to 20 km from the BTS Hotel, and is intended to cover more than 20 buildings.
A new model in phase with today’s needs
The BTS Hotel helps to create a virtuous circle. It makes everyone a winner:

 • the end-users;
 • mobile web users, who get better connectivity;
 • the owner and administrator of the premises, who can make available a value-added service;
 • the mobile telephony operators who can now propose optimum connection quality inside buildings, while controlling their costs.

Thanks to this pooling, it is possible to cover zones, buildings or companies for which deployment could not be economically justified for a single operator working in isolation. These benefits establish the BTS Hotel as a model of the future, opening up major possibilities for development and deployment in other contexts.
The interiors of stadia, rail and bus stations, shopping centres, company headquarters, hotels, universities, hospitals, or industrial estates are all the kinds of places which do not always benefit from optimum mobile coverage, on account of the nature of the buildings (environmental quality standards, buildings that are too high, with basement levels too deep, etc.) technically inhibiting good network coverage. The DAS is a response from Hub One to address the vast issue of mobile network coverage inside buildings. The BTS Hotel can, for its part, also address temporary needs for extra capacity as generated by sports and cultural events and the like, particularly insofar as 3G, 4G or – tomorrow – 5G use radio frequencies that are higher and therefore less penetrative, and which require even more finely-meshed antenna networks.
“This first BTS Hotel in an airport environment in France demonstrates Hub One’s capacity to innovate and provide the flexibility and reactivity that companies need in the face of developing needs and usages regarding connectivity,” , says François Munerot, Manager of the Radio engineering department at Hub One.]]>
